What is Benign mesothelioma?
Benign mesothelioma is far easier to treat than the malignant mesothelioma form and can truly be treated successfully. This illness also differs greatly from the malignant form in that benign tumors don’t attack nearby tissues nor spread to other parts of the body. The indisputable fact that it remains contained makes it way easier to address.
Benign mesothelioma, for the main part, causes plenty of the same symptoms as malignant mesothelioma therefore at the offset, it is hard to distinguish the two with just a simple examination.
Once diagnosed, benign mesothelioma is usually treated with a surgical procedure known as a thoracotomy. This involves the removal of one segment of the lung or, in very rare cases, the entire affected lung. As with any surgery, complications may occur, but the patient generally makes a full recovery within a few months of the procedure.
